School for Spies Series, by Bruce Hale

Sort of like Oliver Twist and Spy kids mashed into one, characters deal with jealousy, insecurity, and the lack of a family. Characters grow in maturity(a little). Intense animosity between several characters, but in the end they still worked together. Lessons of forgiveness, teamwork, and perseverance pervade the book. Romance is a major factor between a few of the characters, but nothing more than a few kisses, crushes, and guys feeling generally bewildered by the presence of a girl.

Violence/Disturbing Images: Moderate. Large amounts of karate type fighting, punching, kicking etc... Although the teacher doesn't like guns, she is forced on several occasions to use one. At several points a side character is shot, but survives.

Sensuality/Nudity: Minimal. Several kisses, major crushes, and boys/girls being very interested in each other. At one time there's a sort of love triangle but it's resolved. One pair of teenagers are in a relationship. Several girls have crushes on a teacher. On an online dating site, as part of an espionage mission a girl flirted with a man to get information from him.

Profanity: Childish insults, but as far as I noticed, no real cussing.

Morality: Small. Lessons of teamwork, forgiveness, perseverance and loyalty, but that's just about it.

Other: At one point a boy prays to his dead mom to get him out of a bad situation. Not a super serious moment though.

On the whole, a good series, with minimal moral lessons, but clean. Not a life changer, but an entertaining read.

Overall Recommendation: Ages 10+

God bless
