Keeper Of The Lost Cities series by Shannon Messenger

Summary: This series follows the story of Sophie Foster as she discovers the Lost Cities, a secret world hidden on this planet where the impossible becomes an exciting new reality. But just when she’s settling into her incredible new life, she uncovers a huge conspiracy that’s going to take every bit of her power—and some talented friends—to stop her enemies from destroying everything that matters.

Violence/Disturbing Images: Moderate. Many people are seriously injured at times, burned, Sophie and her friend are tortured at one point, but no graphic wound details, and few cases of violence being done by Sophie and her friends. Sophie and her friends almost die MANY times. Several other characters die.

Sensuality/Nudity: Lots and lots of crushes on Sophie. Not a whole lot comes from it, but she does kiss one friend before realizing he was not the one, they remained best friends though. There is one mention of a boy kissing a girl "mostly on the cheek" but it was an accident.

Profanity: None, absolutely clean.

Morality: Moderate. Strong themes of forgiveness, friendship, doing what's right when it's not easy, but no specific mention of God, or a particularly Christian worldview.

On the whole, this is an AMAZING series, and I highly recommend it. The banter can become tedious, and Sophie's reactions are very overblown and repetitious sometimes, but I still loved this series.

Overall Recommendation: Ages 10+
